Air Chief Marshal Masihuzzaman Serniabat, BBP, OSP, ndu, psc was born on 14 February 1962. He joined Bangladesh Air Force on 16 March 1980 as a flight cadet and was commissioned in General Duties (Pilot) branch on 19 June 1982.

In his long distinguished career, Air Chief Marshal Zaman has served in almost all the fighter squadrons of BAF in different appointments and flown a variety of fixed wing aircraft which includes PT-6, Fouga, F-6, F-7, F-7 BG, F-7MB, A-5, YAK-130, SU-30 MKI (A) and MiG-29. He had the unique opportunity of commanding three Fighter Squadrons of Bangladesh Air Force and he had been the pioneer Squadron Commander of the coveted Mig-29 Fighter Squadron of BAF.

Group Captain Saiful Azam (1941-2020)


Retired officer of Bangladesh Air Force Group Captain Saiful Azam, SJ, SBT, GD(P) passed away at the Combined Military Hospital, Dhaka last Sunday (14-06-2020) at 1315 hours (Inna Lillahe Wa Inna Ilahi Raziun). He was 79 years old at the time of his death. Chief of Air Staff of Bangladesh Air Force Air Chief Marshal Masihuzzaman Serniabat, BBP, OSP, ndu, psc including all members are deeply shocked and saddened by his death. Bangladesh Air Force wishes peace and forgiveness to the Most Merciful and extends its deepest sympathies and condolences to the bereaved family.

Group Captain Saiful Azam (Retd) was born in 1941 in Pabna to an aristocratic Muslim family. He joined the Pakistan Air Force Academy in 1958 and commissioned in 1960 in GD(P) branch. As a professional pilot, he was awarded highest honour the title of "TOP GUN" from CCTS (Combat Cdr’s Trg School) of United States.
